The Martineau Ten is a group of local residents; incensed with the secrecy and deception of the City Fathers; who have determined to seek answers to their questions. 

It seems to the Ten, that the City is over keen on attracting National and International money to enhance its standing in the country. 

But it is not an amorphous city with no trees and no parks and no heart like Manchester, but a collection of villages that has been formed from an exuberant collection of over 1000 trades in jewellery, gunsmithing, light and heavy engineering and much more.

It has led the Nation in many things, for example, the Lunar Society, Gas Lighting, and the Ragged School/Industrial School movement and it has achieved so much out of love and respect for each other.  The Martineau School in Harborne began this way, and created a School which had a surprising success rate from unpromising beginnings.

The City Politicians who rule us, not entirely with our consent, care nothing for this, but only glory for themselves.  Joseph Chamberlain and Jan Smuts, both mayors of this city weren't like that.  We need to recapture the heart of the City not just tread water but swim to the higher moral ground where we belong and from where we have derived our success as a City.
